As events throughout Europe seem to be growing increasingly worse Jane has decided to travel to Skopje, Macedonia. She has left tonight, and will meet up with Faz (Ch Faisal Raza) who has been there for a few weeks already. They will hand out aid to the refugees arriving into Tabanovtse Station on the 1am train. The following day (tomorrow) should be quite a momentous day as the van that Faz drove over, filled with donations and supplies in late September, is finally due to be released from Skopje customs. It has been held for almost a month and many people having been working very hard to try secure it’s release. On a positive note the lessons learnt will help inform other groups about what they will need to do to get aid into the country. The supplies will be distributed to people starting the walk on to Serbia. Jane and Faz will then start the 2000 mile journey driving the van through Serbia, Croatia and into Slovenia where they will help for two days and see what’s needed there. In the meantime Shazia Malik is flying to Zagreb and then on to Slovenia where they will all meet at the end of the week. As well as distributing aid, and buying supplies using the funds Jane has recieved from an appeal put out yesterday on the group’s facebook page, they will assess what is needed most, and other ways in which we can help. Updates will be posted throughout the week.
