REusable Sanitary Towel Project

ARE YOU A CRAFT GROUP OR SOMEONE WHO LOVES SEWING?

Join the UAREUK Group for making them here! To share tips, patterns and ideas.sanitary towel.png

Many girls and women don’t have access to sanitary towels, and disposable ones as aid may or may not be available. Some of them use rags and which may not even be clean and could lead to infection.

We are reaching out to ask people and craft groups to make reusable sanitary towels to send to Refugee camps in Europe, Syria and other countries if we can.

Also if you have any spare duvet covers to make drawstring bags to give them in too that would be brilliant!

Thanks to Lea Bevan for all her help and guidance for what is needed and where to find patterns.

Also we are collecting sewing machines and cottons to send to Lebanon for women to make their own as part of a wider project there run by other groups.

Option1:

MORE MAMA CLOTH FROM WWW.ROCKETBOTTOMS.CO.UK

  1. Go to http://rocketbottoms.com/product/more-mama-cloth/
  2. Add to cart
  3. They email you the links to download the patterns as pdfs
  4. You’re ready to go

This is what they say: The pattern has 5 sizes included, 8, 9, 10, 10.5 and 11 inches.  There are two downloads with this pattern.  One is for a symmetrical contour shaped pad with squared wings and the other is for a slightly flared back end with squared wings. Basic instructions are printed on the pattern.

Sew up a stash of pads with either a hidden core or an exposed core.  Use just the body layers to make a wingless pad or panty liner.  When making an AIO with hidden core cut out the core on the inner dashed line to remove the seam allowance to ensure a nice fit.

Pattern includes piecing guide and indicates which pages to print for each size if printing by layers.

If you are printing by layers simply deselect the sizes you are not wanting to print.  Make sure that the MUST PRINT page as well as the size you are wanting are selected.  Turn off all auto scaling and print at actual size.

Option 2:

  1. Go to https://sites.google.com/site/shewhorunsintheforest/0011This is for a layered 7.5 inch diameter pad with PUL liner. All the instructions are on this page .

Option 3 for anyone on Pinterest (or you can join easily):
